Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Franzent is a restaurant in Vienna. This policy explains, plainly, what information we collect when you reserve a table, write to us, or visit this website, and what we do with it.
Who is responsible
The data controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Franzent e.U., Spittelberggasse 12, 1070 Vienna, Austria. You can reach us about any privacy matter at [email protected].
What we collect
When you book a table — through our booking partner, by email, or by telephone — we receive your name, contact details, party size, the date and time, and any dietary notes or preferences you choose to share. If a deposit applies, the card payment itself is handled by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers. When you visit this website, our hosting provider records routine technical data such as the date of the visit, the page requested, and a shortened IP address, for security and basic statistics.
Why we use it
We use reservation details only to hold and prepare for your booking — including cooking around allergies and preferences — and to reach you if something about the evening changes. We use correspondence to answer you. Technical website data is used to keep the site running and secure.
Legal basis
We process reservation data to perform our agreement to host you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to run our restaurant responsibly (Article 6(1)(f)). Any optional newsletter is sent only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time. Dietary and health-related notes are processed only on the basis of the explicit consent you give when you share them with us.
How long we keep it
Reservation records are kept for the current season and a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Invoices and payment records are retained for as long as Austrian commercial and tax law requires. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe.
Who else sees it
We share data only with the service providers who make a booking possible — our reservation platform, our payment provider, and our email and hosting providers — each acting on our instructions under a data-processing agreement. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Your rights
You may ask at any time what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to a particular use. A short email to [email protected] is enough. You may also lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).
